Digging Roman-inspired looks lately thank to that dress (which I have in four colous now xD), so here’s some casual closet reenactment of a Roman woman (mostly priestess-inspired)
Indirectly Whovian regarding priestess-inspiration - Sybilline Sisterhood, for example (or Akhaten, or the Sisterhood of Karn - all three wearing red!)
(Couldn’t find the author of the background, if you see this and want me to credit you, please let me know!)
(Feminist disclaimer: I 100% oppose gendered modesty mindsets regarding clothing, and I do *not* condone the fact that (married) Roman women were presumably often expected to wear the palla/a mantle/veil to cover part of their hair in public (or the fact that they couldn’t show their legs, unlike men). I am against that (not to mention against the patriarchal marriage system xD). Regrettably, I quite like the aesthetic (100% devoid of any gendered bullshit) of mantles partly covering the head (never a full covering), and so this is for aesthetic purposes *only*. I also tend to see it in a more unisex priestess/spiritual-inspired way (many male priests use(d) to cover part of their heads in this way as well) The red is, of course, priestess-inspired (Sybilline or Karn sisterhood, anyone ?) and not Roman-marriage-colours inspired :S)
